Ensuring that STEM activities are relatable to non-dominant youth can be difficult to navigate. The reason for this, is that they are not a monolith. Allowing youth to work on projects that are relevant to them means allowing them to define what is relevant. The activities below are examples from the guide that give learners a clear vision of what type of project to work on, but gives them the freedom to explore in a constructionist approach. Additionally, the activities can be done with free software, such as Scratch, or using low-cost craft materials.
This section will updated regularly with additional activities. If you have an activity that you would like to submit for consideration, please email jaleesat@media.mit.edu
